To help you plan your stay at The Eaglehawk, here is a list of what we provide and what you need to bring with you
What we supply
All linen and bedding, towels & blankets

Fully (and extensively equipped) kitchen including all cookware, crockery, cutlery & glassware
Kitchen food basics such as spices, flour, oil, gladwrap, foil, & cleaning products. This is an honour pantry….take some, leave some. Fresh herbs are available from the herb garden
Tea and coffee
Laundry facilities (including washing powder); Iron and ironing board

If you’re planning on using the pizza oven, bring firewood and kindling. All other pizza making tools are provided (make sure you read the instructions on using the pizza oven contained in this manual). Note that fireplaces in the hotel Kitchen and Dining Room area are gas powered and MUST NOT be lit with wood. All other fireplaces (in Bedrooms) must not be lit.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From Melbourne: Drive towards Melbourne Airport but take the Calder Freeway (M79) towards Bendigo. Turn left off the Calder Freeway at Fogarty's Gap Road which is signposted as Maldon. The Fogarty's Gap Road turn off is approximately 5 minutes past the second Castlemaine exit. Drive for 12km. Fogarty's Gap road merges with Maldon-Bendigo Road (be VERY careful when merging with Maldon-Bendigo road). Turn right into Allans Road (which is sign posted to Cairn Curran reservoir) and drive for 2km then turn left at Reef St. The Eaglehawk Country House Hotel will be on your left.
TRAIN
Victorian VLine trains run regularly to Castlemaine (every 30 mins to hour). Take a taxi from Castlemaine Railway station to 35A Reef St Maldon. The taxi ride is approximately 15 minutes and will cost about $40.
Check–in details
Prior to your check-in we will provide you with your PIN code to open the hotel doors. The Eaglehawk features keyless locks on all doors so there is no need for key collection.
Please ensure that you have your PIN code with you and all members of your party are aware how to use the keyless locks.
Check in time is from 2pm. If you’re arriving early you are welcome to leave your bags at the hotel (from 10am) and if the hotel is ready you are welcome to check in early. Please let us know prior to your stay if you would like to leave your luggage at the hotel prior to check-in.

Check-out details
Check out time is 10am unless a late check-out is pre-arranged.
Approved functions have a check-out time of 5pm.
Wash dishes thoroughly before you leave. Ensure pots and pans are thoroughly cleaned and all kitchen items are stored in the correct place. Kitchen cupboards and drawers are labelled.
Clean the BBQ (if you used it)
Close and lock all windows
Turn off all lights
Turn off all air conditioners and heaters
Don’t worry about making your beds…..all linen is going to be changed. Stripping the beds will help us a lot.

operating the Hotel Doors
Each external door has a lock as shown.
Before your stay we will provide you with your PIN number to open the doors. This PIN number will be valid for the duration of your stay.
You must remember your PIN or you may lock yourself out
Follow the three step instructions below to open the door.
If you experience problems and cannot open the door please contact us by phone as we can open the doors remotely.
Please ensure all external doors are locked when leaving the hotel

Air Conditioning
Bar, Dining room, Kitchen and Conservatory area heating and cooling
The Bar, Dining Hall, Master bedroom, Conservatory and Kitchen area is centrally heated via the control panel located in the Bar.
Use the instructions shown below to switch on the heating/cooling unit and set the temperature and fan speed
Fireplaces in Kitchen and Dining Room area are lit using the Push Button timer located on the side of the chimney breast. There is one button for each fireplace. Pressing the button once will light the fire for 1 hour. The safety grill on the front of the fire MUST NOT be removed.
Bathrooms
All bathrooms feature radiant heaters controlled via the light switch. The main Bathroom contains has a radiant heater that is switched on using the Push Button timer next to the light switches. Push the button once to turn the heater on for 60 minutes.
The Master bedroom ensuite and powder room closest to the Bar feature panel heaters. These are switched on using the on/off switch and temperature dial on the side of the panel.
Conservatory
The Conservatory has additional heating and cooling for very hot or cold conditions with a reverse cycle air conditioner. The remote control is located on the wall next to the air conditioner.
Accommodation Wing Heating and Cooling
beds - Ottoman Beds in Dining ROOM
Two single beds are located in the dining hall. These are used as ottomans during the day and convert to single beds at night. These beds are set up as follows:
1. Pull the ottoman away from the wall (to avoid damaging the pictures) and pull out the lower base section. It is on casters and will extend the bed base.
2. Unzip the top cushion and flip open. The cushion top should sit on the bed base revealing the non slip mattress.
3. Fitted sheet, doona and pillow are stored in the white oblong storage box for making up the bed.
Note:
Please ensure the bed is moved away from the pictures to ensure they are not damaged.
Do not drag the ottoman base across the floor.
BBQ
BBQ is located on the rear deck. The BBQ must be thoroughly cleaned after use.
Using the BBQ
Open the top cover and slide it into the back of the unit
Never operate the BBQ with the lid closed
Turn on gas at the gas bottle by opening the right hand door of the unit (on the side). Please turn gas bottle off after use.
After Use
Turn off the gas at the gas bottle
Ensure the hotplates are thoroughly cleaned.
A dirty BBQ will result in your security bond being held to pay for cleaning.
Do not use tea towels to operate or clean the BBQ.
Changing Gas Bottles
A spare gas bottle is available inside the unit. If the gas runs out, swap over the gas bottles.
Breakages
Please let us know if any items break or fail so we can replace or repair them for the next guests.
Damage to items beyond normal wear and tear or breakage of items beyond minor accidents such as a broken glass etc. will result in your security / damage deposit being held to pay for damaged items. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of hire for further information.
candles
Battery operated candles are available in the candelabras on the Dining Table and in the Breakfast room. These can be turned on and off using the switch under the candle. Rechargeable batteries are used in these candles. Please do not remove these batteries or throw them out.
CANDLES, FIRE AND NAKED FLAME MUST NOT BE USED ANYWHERE ON HOTEL PROPERTY AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON, with the exception of the Pizza oven.

Check-in
Check in is from 2pm. Early check-in may be available by prior arrangement.
Check-out
Check out time is 10am unless a late check-out is pre-arranged.
Approved functions have a check-out time of 5pm.
Chromecast
Chromecast is available from the Conservatory TV. Cast to the ‘Conservatory’ from your mobile device.
Coasters
Ensure you use coasters under ALL glasses and cups/mugs. Repair of stains on furniture (tables etc.) will be deducted from your bond.
Coffee Machines
Two espresso coffee machines are available for your use. A Nespresso pod machine and a Miele inbuilt fully automatic espresso machine.

Gaggenau Built In Espresso Machine
Please supply your own favourite coffee beans. Never used ground or flavoured coffee in this machine.
Follow the Instructions below to fill the machine with Water and Coffee Beans and to make coffee.
To add Coffee Beans or fill the Water Tank gently pull the unit from the hand grip at the base of the front panel. The unit will slide forward. The Bean Hopper and Water Tank are clearly labelled.

Confetti and Party Items
No confetti (or rice or similar), glitter, feathers or similar to be used anywhere in the property (indoors or outdoors). No pins, tape, nails, staples etc. in walls, furniture or fixtures. No candles may be lit at any time.

Damage
Refer Breakages
Dishwasher
To operate the Dishwasher, open the door to display the Control Panel.
1. Press the On/Off switch
2. Select the Program using the arrow buttons
3. Press Start
4. Close the door
Whilst the cycle is running, a red light will show at the bottom of the machine.
drinks fridge
The commercial drinks fridge in the Bar is for use only by approved functions.
The bottom right compartment of the refrigerator can be set up as a drinks fridge. To change this compartment between a freezer and drinks fridge press the 'set' button on the front panel associated with the bottom right compartment until the readout changes to '4'.
emergency
In the event of a medical or other emergency, ring 000 and request ambulance, police or fire brigade.
Refer to 'Smoke Alarms' for evacuation details.
FAT Disposal
Fat and oil from cooking must not be disposed of down the sink or poured directly into rubbish bins. Use old milk or drink containers to dispose of cooking fat and oil. Blockages or damage caused by incorrect disposal of cooking fats and oil will be charged against your security bond.
Fireplace
The three fireplaces in the Kitchen, Breakfast Room and Dining Room are gas powered and switched on by pushing the Timer Button located on the side of the chimney breast once. This will switch the fire on for 1 hour. The safety grill on the front of each fireplace MUST NOT be removed.
The fireplaces in the bedrooms are ornamental only and must not be lit.

Furniture
Please do not move any furniture in the hotel. The cost to move furniture back to its original position and any damage caused as a result of moving furniture will be deducted from your security bond.
No pins, tape, staples etc. in walls, furniture or fixtures.
Garbage
The kitchen bin is in opposite the sink and is ‘bin drop’ style. Lift the round metal lid and drop rubbish into the bin. Garbage bags are in the cupboard under the bin. Bins are also located in each bathroom.
Wheelie bins are located in the service yard around the side of the hotel (access from the rear deck) or located just outside the gate next to the pizza oven.
The red lid bins are for general waste. All kitchen waste MUST be bagged.
The yellow lid wheelie bins are for recyclable items (bottles, paper, cardboard etc.).
Garden
The garden is for everyone to enjoy....including future guests. Please do not cut flowers or plants from the garden. Any flowers or plants removed from the garden will incur a $300 fee charged against your security bond.
There is a herb garden located in the raised circular garden bed. Please help yourself to small amount by cutting what you want to use. Do not pull plants out.
Heating
Refer to ‘Air Conditioner’ for instructions on how to set the temperature in each room.
Hot Water
There is plenty of hot water for showers. Hot water is supplied from instant hot water heaters on each side of the hotel.
Note: during winter the pipes under the hotel get very cold and it can take some time for hot water to flow, particularly to the kitchen which is the last tap in the maze of pipes.
Boiling water for tea and coffee drinks is available from the Zip tap at the kitchen sink. Warning: instant boiling water is dispensed from the Zip tap. This tap must NOT be used by children and care must always be exercised.
ICE
Crushed and cubed ice is available from the fridge door (as well as filtered chilled water). Use the button on the fridge display to change dispensing from cubed to crushed to chilled water.
Note: After dispensing ice the fridge takes approximately 1 minute to reset before dispensing more ice.
Internet
Free internet is available

The wifi password for both networks is: eaglehawk
Kitchen
A fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, oven, microwave, cooktop and dishwasher. All crockery, cutlery and glassware is provided. There is also a selection of kitchen food basics (spices etc.) to get you started. You just need to buy or bring fresh food with you.
Please ensure all crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots and pans are thoroughly cleaned before you depart. Please use Gumption paste (under the kitchen sink) to thoroughly clean pots and pans.
Laundry
Laundry facilities are available for your use. Washing detergent and fabric softener is provided.
A clothesline is available in the courtyard outside the laundry or use the clothes dryer in the laundry.
lost and found / lost property
Left something behind that you would like back? Contact us via email on eaglehawkhotelmaldon@icloud.com and tell us what you have left behind and where you think you left it. This will allow us to locate the item and put it aside. To get your item back, send us a self addressed, pre-paid parcel bag to the following address and we will pop your item back in the mail to you.

Makeup / Fake Tan / Hair Dye
Complimentary makeup removers are provided in each bathroom. Please do not use towels or linen to remove / wipe makeup, spray tan, hair dye etc. The replacement of soiled or stained towels and linen will be funded from your security / damage bond.

Press the ON/OFF button (the bottom button on the left side of the display)
Select the time required by turning the right hand dial
Press the Start/Pause button (the bottom button on the right hand side of the display)
Control Panel Dials and Buttons
Music
Music streaming is available in the Dining Rooml via your phone, computer or tablet. Connection for streaming music is available via headphone cable or Chromecast.
A Bose iPhone speaker is available in the Bar.
Please DO NOT adjust the subwoofer volume setting as this can damage the speakers.
Chromecast (Recommended for best sound)
Turn on Pioneer Amplifier by pressing the button in the top left hand corner
Select ‘TV/SAT’ as the input source by turning the large left hand dial.
Stream / Cast your music to DINING ROOM MUSIC
Headphone Cable connection
Turn on Pioneer Amplifier by pressing the button in the top left hand corner
Select ‘BD’ as the input source by turning the large left hand dial.
Connect your device to the headphone cable (marked with label).
Open your music app use as normal.
Adjust volume on your device (phone etc) and using the large right hand dial on Pioneer amplifier.
BOSE Speaker (in Bar)
Place your iPhone in the speaker dock. Note: you may need to remove the cover from your phone first
Play music from your favourite source
Adjust speaker volume using your iPhone volume buttons
Netflix
Netflix is available on the Conservatory and Bar TV’s. To watch Netflix, press the Netflix button on the remote control.
Note: Netflix runs through the internet connection. Heavy use of the internet may cause Netflix to fail.
Do not log out of Netflix or change the login details.
Noise / Neighbours
The hotel is located in a residential area and our neighbours deserve their quiet enjoyment. Please be respectful and ensure you keep noise, particularly outdoors, to a minimum.
Pantry Items
The pantry is stocked with a wide variety of cooking basics including oils, spices, flour, preserves, tea, coffee, sugar etc etc. It is an honour pantry so please take what you need to use and leave or replace something for the next guests.
Parking
Two off street parking spaces are available in the carport located adjacent to the motel. Use the motel driveway to access the carports. Additional parking is available at the front of the hotel (parallel parking) or along the streets around the hotel. Ensure you follow any street signs and do not park illegally across driveways etc.

Important Note: Lighting of the Wood Fired Pizza Oven requires pre-registration with the CFA / Fire Permits Victoria. This is an online registration which requires 2 hours notice, or a phone registration if 2 hours notice cannot be provided. Click on the Pizza Oven Instructions button below for full instructions. Please ensure that you watch the full instructional video on use of the oven.
Power & Lighting
If the power is overloaded at any stage the circuit breaker will trip and turn some of the power off. The hotel has 2 power supplies, one in each hallway. Check both power boxes and ensure all trip switches are in the Up position.
Refrigerator
The bottom right compartment of the refrigerator is set up as a drinks fridge. To change this compartment to a freezer press the 'set' button on the front panel associated with the bottom right compartment until the readout changes to '-10'.
Ice and filtered water is available from the fridge door. Note: after dispensing ice the fridge takes approx. 1 minute to reset before you can dispense further ice.
Note: the bottom drawer of the freezer compartment (left hand bottom compartment) is for owner use only.
Refrigerator Panel Controls
Button 1 - Quick Freeze - Do not use
Button 2 - Freezer Temperature - Press until the display is set to set to -18 degrees
Button 3 - Quick Cooling - Do not use
Button 4 - Fridge Temperature - Press until the display is set to 2 degrees
Button 5 - Freezer / Drinks Fridge - To set this compartment to a freezer press the 'set' button until the display is set to -10 degrees. To set this compartment to a Drinks Fridge, press the 'set' button until the display is set to 4 degrees.
Button 6 - Vacation - Do not use
Button 7 - Lock - Do not use. If the display shows the padlock symbol, press this button to unlock the display
Button 8 - Water / Ice cube / Crushed Ice Dispenser. Press this button to switch between Cold Filtered Water, Ice Cubes and Crushed Ice. To dispense water or ice, press a glass / jug against the back of the dispensing area. Note: after dispensing ice the fridge takes approx. 1 minute to reset before you can dispense further ice.
Button 9 - Ice Making - press until the display is set to On
Button 10 - Display - If the Display panel is off, press this button to turn it on.
Security
Please ensure the hotel is kept in a secure state. Whenever leaving the please ensure

Do not tamper or cover security devices such as digital door locks or security cameras. Tampering or covering security cameras will result in cancellation of your stay and eviction without refund.
Smoking
Smoking in the hotel is strictly prohibited. Smoking inside will attract a $300 cleaning and deodorising fee.
Smoking is permitted in the outdoor areas. Please ensure cigarette butts are disposed of correctly and not thrown in the garden (including pot plants) or on the street.
Cleaning of cigarette butts thrown in the garden will be deducted from your bond.
Smoke Alarms
The hotel features hard wired smoke alarms and emergency lighting. In the event of fire, the alarm will sound throughout the hotel and emergency lighting will illuminate.
Use the following procedure in the event of fire:
The smoke alarms are not connected to the fire department. Ring 000 and provide details of the fire.
Assist any person in immediate danger (only if safe to do so).
If safe to do so, close doors to minimise spread of the fire.
Attack the fire only if safe to do so. A fire extinguisher is located in the bar and on the wall in the accommodation wing.
Assist with the evacuation of mobility impaired occupants.
Move to the Emergency Assembly point located on Franklin street, (adjacent to the Eaglehawk Motel) and stay there until the All Clear has been given.
Follow closely the instructions of emergency services personnel.
Note: the smoke alarms can be activated by steam.
In the event of a false alarm (e.g., burnt toast or steam from the bathroom) the smoke alarms will reset themselves after the cause of the activation has been cleared.
Supermarket / Food supplies
There is an IGA supermarket located in Main St Maldon. Open every day to 7pm. The local butcher is located next door to the IGA supermarket.
Larger supermarkets are located in
Castlemaine (10-15 minute drive) – a large IGA supermarket in the centre of town.
Bendigo (25 minute drive) – a variety of supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and NQR).
Television
All TV’s use the same remote. Please do not remove remote controls from each room. All free to air stations are available.
Note: The conservatory TV has a motorized extension arm. Use the coloured buttons on the tv remote to extend the TV arm.
Red – extend the motorised arm
Blue – close the motorised arm
Green – turn the screen to the left
Yellow – turn the screen to the right
Toiletries
We supply toiletries such as body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We also supply toilet paper. Make up soiled towels that are permanently stained will result in your damage deposit being used to replace the damaged towels or linen.

The hotel features an automatic gardening watering system for the garden. Please do not touch the watering system controls (taps, tanks or control panels).
